Here is my gear list, still need to make some minor
adjustments, add prices and weight to some items. My best advice is to shop
around, don’t buy everything full price, REI is amazing! And if you become a
member you can go to their garage sales every month and find great deals! If
you have any questions just email me (kplaso@kent.edu) or message me on
Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/kayla.plaso).
Pack- Gregory Jade 60, 3lbs. 15oz. Lots of back support and
sweet color, got it on sale for $93 dollars
Sleeping Bag- REI Flash, very lightweight, 800 Fill-Power
Goose Down + Primaloft $150 dollars because I needed an extra long bag for my
long legs!
Sleeping Pad- Therm-a-Rest Trail Lite, $70 dollars
Tent- Six-Moon Duo Lunar 2 person tent. Dan and I will be splitting
up the weight on this to make it easier for the both of us.
Cook Set-
Pot: Pinnacle Soloist, $45 dollars
Stove: Optimus Crux Lite, $35 dollars
Fuel $5 dollars and Spork $10 dollars
Trekking Poles- Black Diamond, Mountain Series $80 dollars,
tested these out and really liked them and understood importance of trekking
poles on the trail, there are more expensive ones that cost $150 that I would
consider getting to last longer and be more durable but I am hoping I can make
these poles last the whole way, will keep you updated with this.
Water Source- Sawyer Squeeze Mini, $20 dollars along with
carrying some kind of water or Gatorade bottle for water, a 1-liter platypus,
$10 dollars, and a 3 liter platypus, $25 dollars
Head Lamp- nothing fancy here, just found one at a REI
garage sale for $25 dollars, TIKKA XP2, takes AAA batteries
50 foot nylon cord for my bear bag rope, $5 dollars
Toiletries- hand sanitizer, toilet paper, baby wipes, birth
control, medicine, band-aids, contacts, glasses, toothbrush, toothpaste,
campsuds, duck tape, small brush, deodorant, safety pins, and small nail
clippers. This is a long list of a lot of stuff I made not need, will test my
pack weight soon and figure out what I need to get rid of.
Electronics- IPhone 5 plus charger, possibly sharing a
camera with Daniel to shoot more videos and quality pictures, and an external
charger of some kind.
Clothes (My favorite part! Will provide more information on details of each item at a later date)
Down Jacket
Rain Jacket
Hiking Shirt
Hiking Shorts
Zip off pants
Camp long sleeve
Camp pants
Dirty girl gators
Crocs
Boots
3 underwear
2 bras
3 pairs of socks
***All of my stuff will be in stuff sacks inside my bag, I am
lining my bag with a trash bag to water proof it because it is the cheapest and
easy way to go!
